Summer Va-Ca

Commencement for Ridgewater College was last Thursday so today felt like the first day of summer vacation (even though I have another job)! To celebrate, I took the kids out to a county park we like to go to that is probably less than 10 miles from our house. I was looking forward to hiking the trail with the kids, thinking we were beating mosquito season but I was wrong. It’s officially started already. I was able to pause for a few pictures before having to run off again so the mosquitoes wouldn’t get us. They were thick and it really makes me just want to stay inside. I guess I might be an indoor winter-lover after all. There were a lot of pretty wild columbine on the trail though so it was somewhat worth it.

Here Andrew stops to watch a speedboat cruise across the lake.

A leaf caught in a spiderweb. . .and my first real bokeh shot!

Sun shining through a leaf caught on a twig.

Sunshine is filtered through the trees.

Scavengers!

Beautiful photos! Looks like it’s nice and warm, too.
My son and I have been sick with the Mother of All Colds for over a week now, and we have severe cabin fever…

Gorgeous photos! What kind of camera do you have? You must be a pro… :) I barely get time to take pics, let alone upload them and add some nice effects…

Thanks Jackie! I have a Nikon D40 and the camera does a lot of the work for me! I love it.
