Water Falling Twice

We visited Minneopa State Park near Mankato yesterday. The waterfalls were surprisingly accessible from the parking lot which makes me think they are probably some of the better waterfalls to visit during the winter. We will definitely need to take a trip back then!

This is the top waterfall. Minneopa means “water falling twice” in the Dakota language.

There are stairs that I believe take you down to the shoreline but I couldn’t do it with the stroller. Something to look forward to later in life when the kids are a little older!

    Mankato is the site of the annual Dakota Wacipi (powwow), something your family might enjoy. This year’s dates for it are September 17,18,19. Here’s the link to their site:

    I saw that. We would have planned to go but that is the weekend we’re camping at Lake Maria.
